Mastery

It seems unobtainable... Mastery. A child holds a pencil and scribbles and talks of writing and you smile. There is so much about writing that the child doesn't know. You decide to help. The child learns how to hold the pencil, form the letters, upper- case, and you proclaim, "You've mastered the alphabet. But can she write? Words, sentences, essays, dissertations and more are yet to be learned. At what point can you say that she has mastered writing? Oh yeah, we still didn't mention penmanship, calligraphy or illustrated text.

The student of classical realism in art attempts to perfect his art to the quality of "The Old Masters." When does that happen? When are you there?

Art is fickle. A gallery owner proclaims his newest artist a "Modern Master," and all of the artist in the  world chuckle.

Why must you be dead before you can be considered a master? I believe it is because when you are alive, you can still improve. Dead... you've done your best.

Well, I am alive and I am always attempting to improve. I hope that you too strive for excellence in your endeavors. Mastery... Go For IT!
